Meeting March 24th: Annual Student Symposium!
Hey everyone,
Just sending out our meeting announcement for March. Our March meeting will be held on March 24th this month on account of Spring Breaks the previous week which is our usual meeting time. The meeting will also be held in person this month! We will gather in the UConn Biology and Physics Building (91 N Eagleville Rd, Storrs, CT 06269) at 6:30 for pre-meeting pizza and then go into Room 130 (auditorium off the lobby) for the meeting and talks. There is a free parking lot right and a garage right down the road (Hillside Road).
For members and guests that are unable or unwilling to attend in person, we will maintain a Zoom option so you can still attend and watch the talks. The room will be opened about 7:00 and powerpoints will be shared through Zoom screenshare at around 7:45. Please email ctentsoc@gmail.com for the Zoom information. The meeting is also a good time to get caught up on dues and share summer plans!
There will not be a single speaker this month as this month is the Student Symposium. We are looking for a total of 6-8 student aged speakers (high school to graduate students) who have an interest in entomology and are doing research, rearing, or have a collecting trip they would like to tell people about. We would love to hear it!
- you have a choice of a 5 minute talk (for short or preliminary research topics) or 10 minute talks (more beefed out, completed, or picture heavy talks)
- talks can be on ANY insect/arthropod related topic, even if ancillary to your main research
- gifts will be provided
As of now we have a few Yale students and one other person, and we really need UConn students to represent the EEB program and fill out the roster. If you are a member and a student, this is usually a fun meeting because the talks are fast paced and we have free food and plenty of bug-related exhibits to show off. If you are interested please respond back to this email with a talk title and we can pencil you in.
I hope to see everyone back after this long hiatus at UConn.
